| I live in a high touch world of sensory awareness and tactile expression. Texture in my abstract collage paintings is built with layers of acrylic paint, fiber and paper. As each layer dries my hand strokes the canvas giving me somatic feedback for the next layer. Eventually a painting feels complete when the elements are incorporated onto the surface, intriguing in shape and barely veiled by paint. Inspiration flows from cycles in nature, my collection of old books, prints, fiber, metal, and other wrappings of daily life. Paintings even appear in my dreams complete with richness of texture and depth of color. |
